Loved this book. It reminds me of Millie Cooper books because the family members come to life before your eyes. She writes about how the family preserves food, smokes meat, and how everything in nature is used. There is drama, survival, and love. Must read!

I have to say this reminds me of a prepper version of Laura Ingalls Wilder's book about her husband Alonzo's family farm in upper NY state. I liked the attention paid to the day to day issues and the drama was not as drawn out, which is another plus for me. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

Phew! There is a lot going on. What a thrill ride of adventure and action. So much to this book and story. It takes the reader, me, through a wild, apocalyptic journey (the struggle). I could definitely see this story unfold on screen. There are so many characters that it took me a while to figure out who was who.

Kelly has done a great job with this book, let alone an entire series. Quite a task. People who aren’t writers have no idea what goes into creating a project like this, especially when being an author is one of the few occupations where you are constantly alone in your thoughts. Obviously, lots of research here, great attention to detail, and my hats off for creating so many characters out of the ethers.

She did a great job of capturing the little, personal moments very well. Little things like, “He wrapped his aunt in a bear hug, tugged playfully at his cousins’ braids,” lends some great imagery for me to see it happening.

I loved learning about new things like switchel and Mexican chocolate ice cream. And there’s no shortage of descriptive action, which is great, “pushing back loose strands of auburn hair” or “followed immediately by a pained grunt from a nearby clump of trees.”.....................

Last Light was an absolute nail bitter! I quickly became hooked and literally spent hours reading! I felt I was part of the family and their story! I was chomping at the bit to read what was next! The survival and skills the family knew and learned were fascinating! I am recommending this book for my next book club book even though I have already read it once! I cannot wait for book two!

These books are waltons Mountain after a EMP. The dogs are fabulous, the bunch of kids, amazing, and then Jo. The undisputed Queen of this clan.they fight fierce love unconditionaly, and will give to all who need. I love this series.

EMP survival books are my favorite but more for the homesteading and prep than the fighting or trying to travel cross country to get home. This series was absolutely the best I have ever read! I loved the family aspect and off grid living even before the EMP. Very little blood and gore. Lots of family. I have been telling lots of friends about this great series.
